How did your shindig on Friday go?

Are you generally looking for gaming while you're here, or just sorta loitering?

Te Dukes of Leisure were most entertaining, thank you.

Yep, I'm looking to participate in a fair amount of quality gaming whilist I am here.

Cheers

Unfortunately, life has interposed and I won't be able to run Descent this month (though me and Sam may still visit). I will try again in the coming months.

As always you'll have to go with what seems right at the time Smile

How many people are planning on being away this weekend? I know of at least one regular who won't be able to make it.

Cheers
Grant

From the sounds of things we should be getting a decent turn out even if we are missing a couple of regular people.

Any requests for my nibbles run?

Hugs

There was a game of shadowrun. run by grant for liam and johnny

I was in a shock 1.1 game with malcolm , Hix and James P

it was wicked , about a game about terrorism , colonisation, media manipulaiton and group identity.

shocks were about generation ships and alien contact.

I can't remember what they had in the board game department

With Boardgames we played Colosseum, Buccaneer and Hey that My Fish.

They were all very fun and the people playing them were great.

We also had 3 more people sign up!

Shock was really interesting.

Our 4 protagonists were widely separated by space and time. Malcolm played the genocidal son of the ship's captain 10 years before we landed on the planet; Paul was the military guy at the centre of a coup the day after the colonists landed; James and I were descendants of the human settlers, at least a generation afterwards, dealing with the effects of our first contact.

Spreading out the timeframes like that felt very literary. T'was cool.

My favourite part of Shock is designing the 'attributes' that you'll all use to resolve conflicts. These are four qualities that you think will define all of the protagonists' stories. In our game, we had Obsession vs. Understanding, and Change vs. Stasis.

In all, I wish we'd had more time to play - to flesh out the characters and the world, and the scenes. Cutting straight to the conflict was good & meant we got through the story. I reckon I would have enjoyed an extra hour and a half to give us time to really savour what we'd created.

No worries, remember, Shadowrun is about criminals Very Happy

The penguins were cool!

The Shock game sounds interesting too. Might have to give that one a go when it comes up next.

Cheers
