Chimera posse

Postby IdiotSavant » Tue Feb 07, 2012 3:20 am

Chimera is happening in Auckland on 24 - 26 August. As usual, there will be a posse of Wellingtonians going.

Last year we travelled there on NZ0446 (leaves Wellington 15:00, arrives 16:00) and back on NZ0467 (leaves Auckland 19:00, arrives 20:00). This year we're thinking of a later return flight - either NZ0475 at 20:00 or NZ0469 at 21:00. Any particular preferences?

No huge preference but later means less rushing.

I think we MIGHT get cheaper prices closer to the time, if say the seats aren't selling well, but it's certainly not something to rely on.

Ditto. On the current timetable we're really tight for time - a minibus at 17:30 allows a one-hour trip (in case of Auckland traffic), gettign us there just in time for check in. Even the 20:00 flight would allow a much more relaxed timetable, and for games to go overtime.

According to the Chimera website, they expect cleanup to be done by 18:00, with a short prize ceremony then. So, we could make the 20:00 flight if we wanted. If we go for the latter one, there's potentially an hour of hanging around in the airport (alternatively: an hour to eat, gossip and kibbitz).

According to Anna, everything wraps up at the camp by 18:30. If we got our bus for around then, people could still make the 20:00 flight if they felt like it.

A chance to eat after rushing about all day is good, I was starving after Chimera last year. I'm liking 21:00.

Updating this, some people are flying up on Jetstar, leaving Wellington at 11:30am on Friday, and returning at 20:40 on Sunday evening. Obviously the latter is compatible with a shared minibus to the airport for all.

Registration for Chimera is open:

http://nzlarps.org/chimera/register.html

Get in before 7pm this Friday 8th June to have the best chance of getting into the games you want, as that's the cutoff for initial game allocation and some games are sure to sell out.
