2016 hair on fire thread

Postby IdiotSavant » Wed Jan 06, 2016 11:59 pm

A bit over two weeks to go until Kapcon, and my hair is officially on fire. Here's where we are at present:

Round 1: 69 (12 games) + 16 GOD / 2015: 86 (16 games) + GOD/ 2014: 81 (13 games) + 12 GOD
Round 2: 78 (13 games) + 11 GOD / 2015: 85 (13 games) + GOD / 2014: 94 (12 games) + 27 GOD
Round 3: 36 (9 games) + 9 GOD / 2015: 63 (10 games) + GOD / 2014: 53 (10 games) + 17 GOD
Round 4: 24 (4 games) / 2015: 14 (3 games) + GOD / 2014: 6 (1 game) + 14 GOD
Round 5: 61 (11 games) + 21 GOD + AS / 2015: 64 (12 games) + 15 GOD + AS / 2014: 64 (10 games) + 20 GOD + AS
Round 6: 59 (10 games) + 5 GOD + AS / 2015: 72 (11 games) + 15 GOD + AS / 2014: 57 (8 games) + 27 GOD + AS
Round 7: 37 (7 games) + 6 GOD / 2015: 47 (9 games) + 15 GOD / 2013: 48 (8 games) + GOD

Expected round 4 demand is 7, and 26 don't knows - so we're likely over-provided there.

Based on this, I think we need:
* 2 or 3 more games in round one, plus surge protection
* 1 or 2 more games in round two, plus surge protection
* 3 more games in round three, plus surge protection
* Nothing more in round four please - we're good there.
* surge protection only in round five
* 3 or 4 more games or GOD facilitators in round 6, plus surge protection.
* 2 more games in round seven, plus at least 2 more GOD facilitators.

So, 11 more sessions all up. I might be able to squeeze the existing GMs for three of them, but we're going to need some new offerings as well.

Updated numbers. We've gone backwards in round two due to larp cancellation. A bit better in rounds 3 and 6.

Round 1: 69 (12 games) + 16 GOD / 2015: 86 (16 games) + GOD/ 2014: 81 (13 games) + 12 GOD
Round 2: 70 (13 games) + 11 GOD / 2015: 85 (13 games) + GOD / 2014: 94 (12 games) + 27 GOD
Round 3: 45 (9 games) + 9 GOD / 2015: 63 (10 games) + GOD / 2014: 53 (10 games) + 17 GOD
Round 4: 24 (4 games) / 2015: 14 (3 games) + GOD / 2014: 6 (1 game) + 14 GOD
Round 5: 61 (11 games) + 21 GOD + AS / 2015: 64 (12 games) + 15 GOD + AS / 2014: 64 (10 games) + 20 GOD + AS
Round 6: 63 (11 games) + 5 GOD + AS / 2015: 72 (11 games) + 15 GOD + AS / 2014: 57 (8 games) + 27 GOD + AS
Round 7: 37 (7 games) + 6 GOD / 2015: 47 (9 games) + 15 GOD / 2013: 48 (8 games) + GOD

Update:

Round 1: 75 (13 games) + 16 GOD / 2015: 86 (16 games) + GOD/ 2014: 81 (13 games) + 12 GOD
Round 2: 75 (14 games) + 11 GOD / 2015: 85 (13 games) + GOD / 2014: 94 (12 games) + 27 GOD
Round 3: 51 (10 games) + 9 GOD / 2015: 63 (10 games) + GOD / 2014: 53 (10 games) + 17 GOD
Round 4: 24 (4 games) / 2015: 14 (3 games) + GOD / 2014: 6 (1 game) + 14 GOD
Round 5: 61 (11 games) + 21 GOD + AS / 2015: 64 (12 games) + 15 GOD + AS / 2014: 64 (10 games) + 20 GOD + AS
Round 6: 63 (11 games) + 5 GOD + AS / 2015: 72 (11 games) + 15 GOD + AS / 2014: 57 (8 games) + 27 GOD + AS
Round 7: 37 (7 games) + 6 GOD / 2015: 47 (9 games) + 15 GOD / 2013: 48 (8 games) + GOD

Critical requirements (roughly in order):
* 2 games of surge protection for round one. While I have some spaces, its very tight, and if we get more than 20 people walking through the door on Saturday morning, they'll have nothing to play. (Where "nothing" is sending them to GoD, handing them Life on Mars or Fiasco, and saying "Have fun, guys!")
* 2 or 3 more games for round six.
* Surge Protection for rounds three and five, and more for round two.
* More games for round seven. People often offer at the last minute, especially if they've had a good con, but we like to have a decent core lineup to encourage people to stick around.

Update:
Round 1: 75 (13 games) + 16 GOD / 2015: 86 (16 games) + GOD/ 2014: 81 (13 games) + 12 GOD
Round 2: 75 (14 games) + 11 GOD / 2015: 85 (13 games) + GOD / 2014: 94 (12 games) + 27 GOD
Round 3: 57 (11 games) + 9 GOD / 2015: 63 (10 games) + GOD / 2014: 53 (10 games) + 17 GOD
Round 4: 24 (4 games) / 2015: 14 (3 games) + GOD / 2014: 6 (1 game) + 14 GOD
Round 5: 61 (11 games) + 21 GOD + AS / 2015: 64 (12 games) + 15 GOD + AS / 2014: 64 (10 games) + 20 GOD + AS
Round 6: 68 (12 games) + 14 GOD + AS / 2015: 72 (11 games) + 15 GOD + AS / 2014: 57 (8 games) + 27 GOD + AS
Round 7: 42 (8 games) + 6 GOD / 2015: 47 (9 games) + 15 GOD / 2013: 48 (8 games) + GOD

Thanks to Mel, Michael, Nick Adams and Ivan, we're now looking pretty sweet.

Current requirements:
* one more surge protection game for round one.
* Anything else for round seven
* one more surge protection for round two, to give the heroes currently on standby a chance to actually play.

Volunteering for surge protection means you may not need to run. I've got just enough spaces to deal with a normal Saturday influx, and one game in hand to cope if there's more - but two would be better. If you're second surge in round one, I think there's a ~25% chance of being needed this year.

Round seven is better than it looks - we've got two more games classified as surge protection because a) the GM is running the rest of the con and might be dead by then; or b) they're surge in another round, so its either-or. If all goes well, both these games will be activated. But round seven attendance is heavily dependent on what's on offer, and having more wouldn't hurt.
